Playing a wide range of popular hit music and keeping listeners updated are the two main aims of the station. To do this, along with our acclaimed national and international news service, we have a dedicated team working on producing regular, detailed, high – quality local news reports. Our main slogan is 'Greatest hits – Latest news' – and that's what we try our utmost to bring to radio listeners in the High Peak, day in, day out, wherever the news happens, whatever the age of the hit song throughout the age of pop music - from rock n roll classics to the current number one hit on the UK Hit 40.

Broadcasting on 106.4FM in Buxton and Glossop, 103.3FM in the mid – High Peak and the Hope Valley, and 106.6 FM from the studios in Chapel-en-le-Frith, the success story of High Peak Radio continues thanks to the support of what we think are the best and most loyal radio listeners in the world. It reaches parts of Derbyshire which cannot be reached by any other local commercial broadcasters via a carefully – designed network of transmitters. Indeed, many people in the High Peak expressed the view that it just couldn’t be done, such are the challenges posed by the terrain.

But like the railway engineers many years ago and the pioneering canal engineers before them, Roger Price’s technical team found a way. And the results can be heard every day, throughout the High Peak. Whilst many people told us about the difficulties, we like to think of the opportunity to broadcast to the wildest, most beautiful place in England as a tremendous privilege.

And now High Peak Radio is expanding - "our soon to be launched" station Ashbourne Radio sets out to bring High Peak Radio's style and expertise to a brand new service for Ashbourne, South West Derbyshire and the Staffordshire borders. This will bring almost half of the land area (the best half!) of Derbyshire under local radio services provided by the High Peak Radio group.
